How to download and install Hattrick Organizer (HO!)

Step 1

Go to www.hattrickorganizer.net and klick on "download" in the upper menu bar.

Step 2

The Download Link on this page will always lead you to the current HO! version for all supported platforms. If you don't use windows and don't have Java installed, you should first install this. Just press the second link in this case.

Step 3

The next page shows the latest version. You can also read the release notes or choose to monitor further HO releases. For now, press "Download" once again.

Step 4

Here you have to choose one of the installation versions. It depends on your operating system:
- HO_xxxx_MAcOS_DMG.zip - for Apple Macintosh computers
- HO_xxxx_Win32_Installer.exe - for Windows XP/Vista, if you already hava Java installed
- HO_xxxx_Win32_Installer_with_JRE-yyyy.exe - for Windows XP/Vista, includes Java
- HO_xxxx.zip - generic platform independent installation files (Linux, Windows 2000, Windows 98,...)

You need to download only one of those files!

Step 5

After pressing one of the version links, the download starts automatically. If not, look for requests from your browser or security software and allow the download.

Step 6

After the download, the next steps depend on your platform version. We'll continue with the Windows Installer. Just launch the exe file.

Step 7

Press "Next >".

Step 8

Chose the items that will be installed. If you already have Java installed, you can skip that point. The installer also lets you install an desktop icon and start menu entries.

Step 9

Select your install location. Important: don't use special characters like the exclamation(!) mark in your path to HO. Press "Install".
Special Vista Note: If you experience problems restarting HO properly on Windows Vista, this might be caused by permission problems. Vista treats the "Program files" folder in a special way - if you use another folder like "C:\HattrickOrganizer", it will possibly work correctly.

Step 10

After installation you can choose to have a look in the readme file with release notes and directly start HO" after pressing "Finish".

Step 11

You can see the readme, the installed desktop icon in the upper left and the first window from HO! which asks you for the programs language. You can change that later in HO!s options too.

Step 12

First start - it looks very empty now, because you haven't loaded your team data into HO yet.

Step 13

Press File -> Download (keyboard shortcut: F11) to open the download dialog. Enter your login name (may be different to your user name) and the security code (not your Hattrick password!) here. If you are behind a proxy (e.g. in bigger companies), you can also configure it's settings here.

Finished!
